Earth Rangers - 5

The Earth Rangers Crew at Twin Oaks is excited to kick off a new year of spreading Earth Friendly Projects. With refillable water stations already available to all students and staff throughout our school, our goal is to encourage the use of sustainable water bottles to help reduce the use of plastics. Today we kicked off our new season with beautiful nature inspired mandalas created by our very eager Earth Rangers students 🌍 #TMOweek Created by: Twin Oaks Elementary Earth Rangers Students Contest submission by @TwinOaksElementarySchool TMO Week - Ripples of Change Activity

TMO: Play Outside

Play Outside Seeing students outside digging holes to plant vegetables is by far one of the most rewarding sites. To hear them laugh, see them smile, and to watch them growing personally is a treasure. We are so happy that your campaign gets us to think hard this week about being OUTSIDE! There's so much learning happening this week by doing that. Thank you! Created by: Sacramento Splash TMO Week - Reflection Activity

COP28: Local Student's Concern about Lack of Climate Education

Local Student's Concern about Lack of Climate Education There's a serious lack of education when it comes to climate change. The youth of today are the future, and so education is really important because we need to be educated on what's going on today and what's going to happen if we do nothing about it. Because it's our job to fix it before it's too late. Created by: Sara

How is OKM helping fight climate change?

How is OKM helping fight climate change? Hi, I’m a student here at OKM and my name is Meg and I'm in grade 12. I just attended a climate conference hosted by Extreme Hangout and #Decarbonize. We had many guest speakers come up and talk, and I was really inspired by what they said. It made me realize that OKM is not doing enough to fight climate change! We have a large student body of over 1400 people, and with that many people I think we can really make a difference, but only if these students are educated, guided, and advocated for. The many people who spoke today proved to me that students are capable of accomplishing amazing goals and projects. Imagine what all the other students of OKM could do for our community and environment too! That’s why I’m asking you to set plans to embed more climate change topics into our courses, and do things like bringing in guest speakers to educate us about how to become a climate leader and impacts of climate change. And maybe we can put forth an after school climate education program. Here is a link to Lacombe High Schools Ecovision project, a project led entirely by students that a speaker introduced to us about the power we students can hold: http://lchsecovision.weebly.com/past-projects.html. Even though it is student led, advocacy and inspiration (which is where you come in) is the first step to meaningful change. Created by: Meg B. School: Okanagan Mission Secondary
